NEW YORK (AP) — Thousands of Microsoft 365 customers worldwide reported having issues with services like Outlook and Teams on Monday. In social media posts and comments on platforms like outage tracker Downdetector, some impacted said that they were having trouble seeing their emails, loading calendars or opening other Microsoft 365 applications such as Powerpoint. Microsoft acknowledged “an issue impacting users attempting to access Exchange Online or functionality within Microsoft Teams calendar” earlier in the day. In updates posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, the company's status page said it identified a “recent change” that it believed to be behind the problem — and was working to revert it. Microsoft shared that it was deploying a fix — which, as of shortly before noon ET, it said had reached about 98% of “affected environments.” Still, the company later noted that targeted restarts were taking slower than expected for the majority of affected users. “We’re facing delays in our recovery efforts and are taking immediate action to address them,” Microsoft 365 status wrote on X Monday afternoon. “We understand the significant impact of this event to your businesses and are working to provide relief as soon as possible.” Data on Downdetector showed thousands of outage reports from users of Microsoft 365 , particularly Outlook . Reports appeared to peak around noon ET Monday, but have fallen some since.

Suryavanshi’s whirlwind knock at just 13 years and 187 days old made him the youngest player ever to score a century in youth cricket, smashing the previous record held by Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto by over a year. His innings just fell short of the record for the fastest century in an U19 red-ball match, with Moeen Ali’s 56-ball ton against Sri Lanka in 2005 narrowly holding its title. Subsequently, it’s not a total surprise that franchises were interested in investing long-term with Suryavanshi, as a mini bidding war ensued for the youngster. Delhi Capitals and his eventual team the Royals bid upwards from his base price of 30 lakhs, with the latter eventually coming up trumps with a final bid of 1.1 crore (currently equating to $200,727 AUD). 🚠̈Only in IPL: A bidding war for the youngest name of the lot - Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 13 years old! 🤠̄🔥 And guess what? He’s a ROYAL! 💗 — Rajasthan Royals (@rajasthanroyals) November 25, 2024 “He’s been to our high performance centre in Nagpur, he had trials there and really impressed our coaching set-up there,” Royals chief executive Jake Lush McCrum said after the auction ended. “He’s an incredible talent, and of course you’ve got to have the confidence so he can step up to the IPL level. “Lots of work will go into the coming months to continue to develop him, but hell of a talent and we’re really excited to have him as part of the franchise.” Suryavanshi will at the very least train alongside the likes of England star Jofra Archer and Sri Lankan duo Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana. The Royals also selected South African young gun Kwena Maphaka, 18, who played three T20I’s for the Proteas in late August against the West Indies. NEW YORK (AP) — After acquiring Juan Soto for a one-year rental and failing to keep him as a free agent, the New York Yankees are taking the same chance with Devin Williams. New York acquired the All-Star closer from the Milwaukee Brewers for left-hander Nestor Cortes and infield prospect Caleb Durbin on Friday. The Yankees will send $2 million to the Brewers as part of the trade. “He's a year away from free agency but someone that we’ve tried to acquire for a number of years,” Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said. “I’m sure we weren’t the only bidders here in the end.” A 30-year-old right-hander, Williams is eligible for free agency after the 2025 season. He was diagnosed during spring training with two stress fractures in his back and didn’t make his season debut until July 28 . “Certainly not trying to downplay the impact the Devin had, but we feel like we still have a good amount of strength there with our bullpen,” Brewers general manager Matt Arnold said. Williams was 14 for 15 in save chances with a 1.25 ERA, striking out 38 and walking 11 among 88 batters over 21 2/3 innings. His fastball averaged 94.7 mph and he threw it on 53.5% of his pitches, mixing in 45% changeups — known as the “Airbender” — and around 1.5% cutters. William's 43.2% strikeout percentage was the highest in the major leagues among pitchers with at least 20 innings. “Certainly doesn’t seem to be afraid,” Cashman said. “You can’t do that job if you’re afraid of the big stage.” An All-Star in 2022 and 2023, Williams was a second-round pick in the 2013 amateur draft. He is 27-10 with a 1.83 ERA and 68 saves in 78 chances over six seasons, striking out 375 and walking 112 in 235 2/3 innings over 241 games. Milwaukee declined a $10.5 million club option in favor of a $250,000 buyout last month, making Williams eligible for arbitration. Williams joins a bullpen that includes Luke Weaver, who took over as closer from Clay Holmes in September, Jake Cousins and Ian Hamilton. The Yankees don’t have a left-handed reliever on their 40-man roster. “If you have right handers that can neutralize lefties, that’s a benefit. It limits your desperation for immediately a left on left,” Cashman said. Cortes, who turned 30 on Tuesday, was an All-Star in 2022 when he went 12-4 with a career-best 2.44 ERA in 28 starts. He made just one start after May 30 in 2023 because of a strained left rotator cuff and was sidelined late in the 2024 season by a flexor strain in his left elbow. He returned for the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers and entered in the 10th inning of the opener, retiring Shohei Ohtani on a foulout with his first pitch and giving up a game-ending grand slam to Freddie Freeman on his second. "He’s had a fully healthy offseason," Arnold said. “We expect him to come into camp ready to go as normal.” Known for his many deliveries, Cortes is 33-21 with a 3.80 ERA in 86 starts and 49 relief appearances over seven seasons. He is eligible for arbitration and also can become a free agent after next season. “He brings a real stability, I think, to our rotation,” Arnold said. “Somebody that's been a major piece of a really good championship-caliber team in the New York Yankees, I think will fit us very well, especially after the loss of Willy Adames .” New York had an excess of starters after reaching a $218 million, eight-year agreement with left-hander Max Fried that is pending. The rotation also is projected to include ace Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodón, Luis Gil and Clarke Schmidt, with Marcus Stroman also available. Durbin, who turns 25 in February, hit .287 with 10 homers, 60 RBIs and 29 stolen bases this year at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. “We just felt it was harder to acquire someone at the level of Devin Williams than it would be to try to figure out the infield circumstances,” Cashman said. Durbin was with the big league team last spring training “I think he’s a stud,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said last month. “Great bat-to-ball, elite ability on the bases as a base stealer, good defender in the middle of the diamond, second base. He’s really started over the last year-plus to create some position flexibility, too. He’s played some short, he’s played some third. We introduced him to some outfield this year.” Durbin hit .312 with five homers, 21 RBIs and 29 steals in 24 games at the Arizona Fall League. “We love the style of game that he brings to our team,” Arnold said. “I think that’s going to be a really nice fit with Pat Murphy's style of baseball.” Cashman said he's spoken with Scott Boras about the agent's remaining free agent clients, who include third baseman Alex Bregman and first baseman Pete Alonso. “Certainly respect the player and his ability and how much winning he’s been a part of,” Cashman said of Bregman, “but that’s about as far as I will say at this point.” This story has been corrected to note New York is sending cash to Milwaukee, not the other way around. New Delhi: Indian stock markets began the week on a cautious note, with both the Sensex and Nifty 50 trading lower during the opening session on Monday. Weak global market trends weighed on investor sentiment. At the opening bell, the BSE Sensex dipped 61.17 points, or 0.08 per cent, to 78,637.90, while the Nifty 50 slipped 16.50 points, or 0.07 per cent, to 23,796.90. The lackluster performance reflects global market concerns influencing domestic indices. India’s Economic Growth OutlookMeanwhile, Deloitte offered a positive outlook for India’s economic growth. In a statement released on Sunday, the global consulting firm projected that the Indian economy would grow between 6.5 per cent and 6.8 per cent in the current fiscal year. For FY2026, the growth is expected to improve slightly, ranging between 6.7 per cent and 7.3 per cent, driven by strong domestic consumption. Market OutlookDr. V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services said, "As investors leave 2024 behind and look forward to the New Year there will be more concerns than confidence, at least in the early days of 2025. The biggest concern for stock markets, globally, is uncertainty surrounding Trump 2.0. The concern is that since market valuations are high any negative news might cause corrections. He further added, "The resilience of the US economy continues to surprise. The lower-than-expected jobless claims have pushed the US 10-year bond yield to 4.62%. This will be a headwind for stock markets globally and particularly for emerging markets where FIIs might continue to sell. Risk-free yield of 4.62% from the safest asset class in the world will continue to lure FIIs to sell in emerging markets like India and move the money to US bonds. In the recent market correction in India, IT and banking stocks have remained reasonably resilient, primarily due to their fair valuations. Investors should exercise caution as we move into the uncertainties of the New Year." The future of Sydney coach John Longmire is uncertain ahead of a major club announcement on Tuesday afternoon. The Swans declined to comment amid speculation, put to them by this masthead, that Longmire would walk away on Monday night. Longmire and his manager Liam Pickering were also contacted for comment. Swans coach John Longmire. Credit: AFL Photos The Swans have called a press conference for a “major club announcement” at 1.30pm. One of the most respected and highly regarded coaches in football, the 53-year-old coached the Swans to a premiership in 2012 before suffering grand final losses in 2014, 2016 and 2022. He was contracted for the upcoming season. People close to Longmire have said he had contemplated walking away from the game in recent years to live on his farm. The Swans have a history of succession planning for their new coaches. Longmire took over from Paul Roos under such a plan. Assistant coach Dean Cox has been part of Sydney’s coaching structure since 2017, and currently oversees game strategy and performance and would be considered highly likely to take over from Longmire. The 42-year-old had been a target of West Coast in their hunt for a senior coach, before the Eagles appointed Andrew McQualter, but Cox opted not to pursue the job . Though the Swans have repeatedly denied he is part of a contracted succession plan with Longmire, the six-time All-Australian ruckman has been seen as Longmire’s logical successor. Longmire has been a vocal critic of the AFL’s soft spending cap for football departments, arguing that coaches and staff were being stretched to the limit. “I think the real challenge for the industry is there’s a lot of really good people working but they’re working enormous hours and putting themselves and their families, in some cases, under some stress,” he said in 2021 . More to come. Keep up to date with the best AFL coverage in the country. Sign up for the Real Footy newsletter .
