More info The net worth of this year's Strictly Come Dancing stars provides fans with a glimpse into the staggering wealth of their favourite celebs - with some truly eye-popping figures. As we near the finals, only seven contestants remain, with eight already having bid farewell to the dance floor. Among those still vying for the Glitterball Trophy are Love Island Tasha Ghouri , who secured this year's first 40 score from the judges, JLS star JB Gill and TV personality Pete Wicks . But among those still left in the competition, who appears to have amassed the highest net worth thanks to their careers outside of Strictly? Let's take a closer look... Chris McCausland was reportedly worth £800,000 in 2021, according to Net Worth Post. However, his profile has risen significantly since then, thanks to appearances on shows like Have I Got News For You and Live At The Apollo, as well as a radio slot on Radio 4. His Channel 4 documentary Wonders of the World I Can't See aired in 2023, and he recently launched his ITV Saturday morning programme, The Chris McCausland Show. Plus, Chris, who is Strictly's first blind contestant, will embark on an extensive UK tour in 2025 with his show Yonks! - which has added dozens of new dates due to demand from his Strictly fame, reports the Mirror . JB Gill, known for his days with JLS, has transformed into a businessman with an estimated net worth of a cool £3 million. Despite the band parting ways back in 2013, JB has been clever with his finances, and he shared with the Mail's Me and My Money segment in 2021 his strategic moves in real estate. He's invested in buy-to-let properties and made a profit from selling them on. JB and his wife, Chloe Tangney, have also invested heavily in their turkey farming business, now enjoying life in their gorgeous farmhouse valued at £1.7 million—a property they snagged for £500,000 less than the asking price. Opening up to the publication, he revealed he's nearly finished paying off the mortgage. Moreover, recalling his pop glory days to the Mirror, JB said: "When I was with JLS, we were paid five-figure and six-figure sums for private gigs where we would typically do sets lasting no more than 20 minutes." Tasha Ghouri of Love Island fame is also raking in the money, quickly accruing a vast wealth. After dazzling viewers on the 2022 series of the hit ITV reality show, The Sun claimed she had built a £1 million net worth after landing contracts with high-profile names like Mugler. Not to mention, she's stepped into the role of eBay's inaugural second-hand fashion ambassador and has collaborated with Cadbury Fingers and the National Deaf Children's Society. Using her newfound fame to her advantage, she bagged the role of L'Oreal's brand ambassador and signed lucrative deals with LookFantastic and Simmi Shoes. In just two years, she's amassed a jaw-dropping fortune of £2 million, thanks in part to brand collaborations and her massive social media following. TOWIE's Pete Wicks is another high earner who has capitalised on his fame with a series of side gigs after leaving the reality show. The Strictly favourite now boasts an estimated net worth of £3 million, with him and Made In Chelsea's Sam Thompson reportedly pulling in £15,000 a month from their Staying Relevant podcast alone. EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick, 30, has spent most of his time filming for the BBC soap, and his exact net worth remains unconfirmed. However, considering that the highest-paid actors from the square earn about £300,000 per year, raking in approximately £2,000 per episode, it's safe to say he's doing alright. While he may not be on par with the likes of Phil Mitchell actor Steve McFadden and Adam Woodyatt's Ian Beale, it's likely he has some voiceover gigs to supplement his income. According to Closer magazine, his biggest earning potential could come from his Instagram following, with his 322,000 fans potentially earning him around £1,200 per sponsored post. As for Montell Douglas, not much is known about her net worth. That being said, she's accomplished a lot throughout her esteemed career, including performing as Fire on Gladiators and holding the British record for the 100 metre sprint. She also competed in the Winter Olympics for bobsleigh. Sarah Hadland keeps her private life and finances under wraps, but she's certainly making waves with her dancing. Miranda star Sarah has been paired up with the talented Vito Coppola on Strictly, and she's learnt loads about bouncing back during their intense training sessions. Opening up on Strictly's sister show It Takes Two, she shared: "When you start something like this, you sort of in your head think, 'Right, I think it will be a bit like this and there'll be a bit of unknown'. But I think the journey I've been on, I really wasn't expecting. I know everyone talks about the 'J' word, but I thought, 'I don't think I'll be going on a journey. I think I know I can dance to this amount and that's how it will go'. And it was just a real shocker."Get 20% off the Laneige lip mask with 37,000 five-star Amazon reviews

The Sooners got a $100,000 fine as is customary for the first time a school’s fans have entered the playing field after a big win. But the fine was doubled with an additional $100,000 penalty because the game was delayed by a premature field storm. Oklahoma fans poured onto the playing surface with 28 seconds to go. We can’t even storm the field correctly. — Don Neto (@greybeardbb) Oklahoma fans invaded the field despite the Sooners needing to run one more play to end the game. The field had to be cleared of fans before Oklahoma could officially put the capper on the three-TD win and start to celebrate for good. Oklahoma’s field storm came just hours after at the end of the Sun Devils’ win over BYU. The game appeared to be over after Arizona State’s questionable clock management to end the game, but a replay review as fans surrounded the officials on the field determined that there was one second left with Sam Leavitt’s pass landed in the grandstands. That gave BYU an attempt at a Hail Mary to win the game, but Jake Retzlaff’s pass to Chase Roberts came up short of the end zone. Oklahoma was not the only SEC school fined on Sunday either. Auburn got a $100,000 fine for a field storming after the over Texas A&M. The victory was just Auburn’s second SEC win of the season and kept the team’s bowl hopes alive. The Tigers need to beat Alabama in Week 14 to finish 6-6 and make a bowl game. SEC's field-storming fine process mandates that the fines are paid to the losing teams. So Alabama will net $200,000 from Oklahoma while the Aggies will get Auburn's fine money.
What will Elon Musk’s “DOGE” mean for America’s social safety net? That was the question on the minds of many as Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy came to the Capitol on Thursday to present their vision for the “Department of Government Efficiency” to Congress. Billed as a bipartisan meeting to which all senators and representatives were invited, it was in reality mostly attended by Republicans. But the short answer to what DOGE means after Thursday: Nobody knows. Musk and Ramaswamy met with senior members of the House GOP as well as Marjorie Taylor Greene, chair of the to-be-formed “DOGE” subcommittee in Congress, ahead of the presentation Thursday afternoon. The two were tight-lipped as they passed reporters, with Musk answering just one question — turning and giving an emphatic “yes!” to a shouted question from the pool regarding whether he wanted to see more Democrats join the effort. That was a general theme of the day. Republicans who talked to a large scrum of reporters gathered outside of the closed-door meetings gave little in the way of details as to how the federal budget would be reduced, instead pivoting towards expressing their excitement at the arrival of Musk, the newest member of Donald Trump’s inner circle. The most frequently cited example of “waste” was a survey out this week reporting that the vast majority of federal workers are now in hybrid or primarily work-from-home roles. Speaker Mike Johnson gave slightly more information at a scheduled presser ahead of the presentation by Musk and Ramaswamy, but even he said that there would be little in terms of real substance released to the press today. “They're innovators and they're forward thinkers, and so that's what we need right now,” Johnson said of Musk and Ramaswamy. “We need to make government more efficient. And that is what this whole objective is. It's what the DOGE effort will be about. You're going to see a bicameral cooperation, and it will be, by the way, bipartisan.” He pointed to a number of Democrats he said had already come forward to join the effort. But he dodged a question regarding whether it was truly feasible to make such deep cuts to the federal budget without touching Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid, the bulk of America’s medical and financial safety net for low-income and older citizens. Other Republican committee chairs who filed in and out of both meetings similarly dodged such questions, though a few were willing to address the question of the safety net and entitlement reform directly. “If we don't reform them, then potential retirees will not have them,” said Rep. Kevin Hern, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee’s sub-panel on Health. Alabama senator Katie Britt gave a quick rundown of her own frustrations with the federal government, which included failures to pay down the national debt and delays on the passage of major pieces of legislation including the Farm Bill. “I’m excited for him to be here,” Britt told reporters of Musk as she entered. Greene told reporters that she and Musk had spoken about how Congress could work to address national debt, which she called “unsustainable.” “To quote Elon, he said something extremely important. Every single payment that the federal government pays out, we need to be checking those payments to see if they're legitimate and that’s something that hasn't been done,” she said on Thursday after her meeting with the Tesla/Twitter CEO. “I am looking forward to exposing every single unelected bureaucrat, every single agency that is wasting the American people's money, and the big government departments that need to be exposed for how they're not serving the American people,” she added.

As part of a national “moonshot” to cure blindness, researchers at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus will receive as much as $46 million in federal funding over the next five years to pursue a first-of-its-kind full eye transplantation. “This is no easy undertaking, but I believe we can achieve this together,” said Dr. Kia Washington, the lead researcher for the University of Colorado-led team, during a press conference Monday. “And in fact I’ve never been more hopeful that a cure for blindness is within reach.” The CU team was one of four in the United States that received funding awards from the federal Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health , or ARPA-H. The CU-based group will focus on achieving the first-ever vision-restoring eye transplant by using “novel stem cell and bioelectronic technologies,” according to a news release announcing the funding. The work will be interdisciplinary, Washington and others said, and will link together researchers at institutions across the country. The four teams that received the funding will work alongside each other on distinct approaches, though officials said the teams would likely collaborate and eventually may merge depending on which research avenues show the most promise toward achieving the ultimate goal of transplanting an eye and curing blindness. Dr. Calvin Roberts, who will oversee the broader project for ARPA-H, said the agency wanted to take multiple “shots on goal” to ensure progress. “In the broader picture, achieving this would be probably the most monumental task in medicine within the last several decades,” said Dr. Daniel Pelaez of the University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, which also received ARPA-H funding. Pelaez is the lead investigator for that team, which has pursued new procedures to successfully remove and preserve eyes from donors, amid other research. He told The Denver Post that only four organ systems have not been successfully transplanted: the inner ear, the brain, the spinal cord and the eye. All four are part of the central nervous system, which does not repair itself when damaged. If researchers can successfully transplant the human eye and restore vision to the patient, it might help unlock deeper discoveries about repairing damage to the brain and spine, Pelaez said, as well as addressing hearing loss. To succeed, researchers must successfully remove and preserve eyes from donors and then successfully connect and repair the optical nerve, which takes information from the eye and tells the brain what the eye sees. A team at New York University performed a full eye transplant on a human patient in November 2023, though the procedure — while a “remarkable achievement,” Pelaez said — did not restore the patient’s vision. It was also part of a partial face transplant; other approaches pursued via the ARPA-H funding will involve eye-specific transplants. Washington, the lead CU researcher, said she and her colleagues have already completed the eye transplant procedure — albeit without vision restoration — in rats. The CU team will next work on large animals to advance “optic nerve regenerative strategies,” the school said, as well as to study immunosuppression, which is critical to ensuring that patients’ immune systems don’t reject a donated organ. The goal is to eventually advance to human trials. Pelaez and his colleagues have completed their eye-removal procedure in cadavers, he said, and they’ve also studied regeneration in several animals that are capable of regenerating parts of their eyes, like salamanders or zebra fish. His team’s funding will focus in part on a life-support machine for the eye to keep it healthy and viable during the removal process. InGel Therapeutics, a Massachusetts-based Harvard spinoff and the lead of a third team, will pursue research on 3-D printed technology and “micro-tunneled scaffolds” that carry certain types of stem cells as part of a focus on optical nerve regeneration and repair, ARPA-H said. ARPH-A, created two years ago, will oversee the teams’ work. Researchers at 52 institutions nationwide will also contribute to the teams. The CU-led group will include researchers from the University of Southern California, the University of Wisconsin, Indiana University and Johns Hopkins University, as well as from the National Eye Institute . The teams will simultaneously compete and collaborate: Pelaez said his team has communicated with researchers at CU and at Stanford, another award recipient, about their eye-removal research. The total funding available for the teams is $125 million, ARPA-H officials said Monday, and it will be distributed in phases, in part dependent on teams’ success. U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette, a Democrat who represents Denver in Congress, acknowledged the recent election results at the press conference Monday and pledged to continue fighting to preserve ARPA-H’s funding under President-elect Donald Trump’s administration. The effort to cure blindness, Washington joked, was “biblical” in its enormity — a reference to the Bible story in which Jesus cures a blind man. She and others also likened it to a moonshot, meaning the effort to successfully put Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the moon nearly 50 years ago. If curing blindness is similar to landing on the moon, then the space shuttle has already left the launchpad, Washington said. “We have launched,” she said, “and we are on our trajectory.” Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Click to share on X (Opens in new window) Most Popular A shooter kills UnitedHealthcare’s CEO in an ambush in New York, police say A shooter kills UnitedHealthcare’s CEO in an ambush in New York, police say Amazon same-day delivery center opens in Hampton — the 1st of its kind in Hampton Roads Amazon same-day delivery center opens in Hampton — the 1st of its kind in Hampton Roads Amber Alert: 3 children in extreme danger last seen at Augusta County bus stop, police say Amber Alert: 3 children in extreme danger last seen at Augusta County bus stop, police say Here are the top 50 high school football recruits in Hampton Roads’ Class of 2025 Here are the top 50 high school football recruits in Hampton Roads’ Class of 2025 ‘Deny,’ ‘defend’ and ‘depose’: Ammunition used in CEO’s killing had writing on it, AP source says ‘Deny,’ ‘defend’ and ‘depose’: Ammunition used in CEO’s killing had writing on it, AP source says John Hinckley Jr., who tried to kill Ronald Reagan, announces plans to open music store in Williamsburg John Hinckley Jr., who tried to kill Ronald Reagan, announces plans to open music store in Williamsburg Newport News retiree warns of losing access to doctors under city’s insurance provider Newport News retiree warns of losing access to doctors under city’s insurance provider German restaurant Deutsche Ecke opens in Newport News German restaurant Deutsche Ecke opens in Newport News Attend the German Christmas Market this weekend in Newport News Attend the German Christmas Market this weekend in Newport News The latest business openings and closings in Hampton Roads The latest business openings and closings in Hampton Roads Trending Nationally UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson killed by masked gunman outside NYC hotel Pennsylvania-based Yuengling, the oldest brewery in America, is bringing its beer to Chicago Maverick operator of California raw milk dairy that sickened children could have role in Trump’s FDA DeSantis interested in Defense secretary job, replacing Hegseth: insider Hugh Jackman’s ex-wife not ready for ‘blended’ family with Sutton Foster

The case is pending in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and is captioned City of Hollywood Firefighters’ Pension Fund v. ASML Holding N.V., et al. , No. 24-cv-8664. Then, during the accompanying earnings call with investors on October 16, 2024, the Company attributed the poor earnings results to “a reflection of the slow recovery in the traditional [semiconductor] end markets as customers remain cautious in the current environment.” The Company also disclosed that the decline in ASML’s sales to China would also negatively impact the Company’s gross margins. On this news, the price of the Company’s stock fell 6.4%, from a closing price of $730.43 per share on October 15, 2024, to $683.52 per share on October 16, 2024. PLASTIC surgery enthusiast Katie Price has unveiled her plans to get a fresh “bubble butt” in January. This will be the mum-of-five's THIRD Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), in which she'll have up to 800ml of dermal fillers pumped into her cheeks in pursuit of a rounder bottom. 17 Katie Price, 46, has booked in for her THIRD BBL in January Credit: Getty 17 The mum-of-five is no stranger to going under the knife Credit: instagram 17 Once known as glamour model Jordan, Katie has changed a lot over the last nearly-three decades Credit: Getty It might sound extreme, but it’s nothing she hasn't experienced before. The former glamour model, 46, has famously had hundreds of plastic surgery ops and aesthetic treatments over the years. Katie rose to fame as the outspoken Page 3 model, Jordan, and has spent the last nearly-three decades cementing her status as a British icon. From her slew of reality TV shows in the early Noughties, stints on I’m A Celeb and candid confessions on talk shows throughout the years, it’s unlikely that a single soul in Britain doesn’t know who she is. read more on surgery KITCHEN NIGHTMARES I was making my normal cuppa and the next moment I went up in flames NO BUTTS I’m a Barbie doll church minister -I have a BBL, veneers & fillers... And as her celebrity grew, so did Katie’s fondness for plastic surgery, Botox, dermal fillers and the like. She has famously had a whopping 16 boob jobs, hundreds of syringes of lip filler and now plans to get her third BBL. “Just had my consultation to get my bum as big as my lips,” she told fans on Instagram this week. “I’m doing it in January, but this time, they’ve got an ultrasound which makes the procedure so much safer.” Most read in Celebrity PEOPLE'S PRINCESS Princess Andre hints HUGE career move - dad Peter will be happy about it SLEIGH TO GO The sexiest Xmas lingerie shoots - from Maura Higgins’ to Christine McGuiness BACK OUTEN Denise Van Outen, 50, on her dating fears & THAT fallout with Johnny Vaughan GIFT GUIDE The worst Secret Santa gifts revealed, most Brits HATE a classic festive present It's likely that the Pricey has spent over £100,000 on altering her face and body throughout her life. Where did Katie's love of plastic surgery begin? Fabulous investigates... 1995: Au Naturel 17 Katie pictured in 1995 before her glamour modelling career took off Credit: Rex Katie burst onto the modelling scene in the mid Nineties and soon began to take on her Page 3 alter ego, Jordan. She was just 17-years-old and famed for her big smile and even bigger curls - a look that her daughter Princess Andre , 17, emulates. Katie revealed in 2023 that she had “no idea what Botox was or fillers” at this point in her career. Though, she admitted she may have started her tweakments at an even earlier age if she had. 1998 - 1999: Boob Jobs 17 Katie pictured in 1999 after having her first three boob jobs Credit: Rex Katie underwent her first breast augmentation in 1998 at just 20-years-old, enhancing her 32B bust to a 32C. The procedure cost £4,500, and it’s thought that her mum Amy may have helped foot the bill. A year later and aged 21, she increased her size to a D cup, before again upgrading to an F cup several months after that. If her first procedure is anything to go by, she likely paid just shy of £5,000 for each of these too. Katie famously said that she’s only paid for two boob jobs in her life, so it could be any of these three. 2004: Botox 17 Katie began getting Botox in 2004 when she was around 26-years-old Credit: Rex At 26-years-old, Katie delved into the world of anti-wrinkle injections. She began getting Botox to relax her facial muscles, which in turn reduces lines and wrinkles. She was open about her love of the procedure and said at the time: "I get my forehead and around my eyes Botoxed every six months, and I love it. You can't beat it. It just freezes all the wrinkles, and that's what you want." According to Face Lift London, two areas of Botox costs around £330. Over the last 20 years, that means Katie may have spent more than £13,000 on anti-wrinkle injections alone. Interestingly, Katie was adamant in 2004 that she’d “never have a full face lift ” as she had “seen what they can do to people”. 2006: Fourth Boob Job 17 Katie, pictured in 2006 after her fourth boob job, was a household name in the Noughties Credit: PA:Press Association In 2006, it was time for Katie to go under the knife for a fourth time. The glamour model, who was a household name by this point, wanted to increase her F cup breasts to a G cup. She also continued to dabble with Botox, and rumours were swirling that she was also getting regular lip filler injections, which likely would’ve been costing ger around £100 a pop. 2007: Nose Job Number One (and Veneers) 17 Katie, pictured in 2007, had gotten her first nose job and set of veneers at 29-years-old Credit: Getty By 2007, Katie’s love for plastic surgery and aesthetic tweakments was in full swing. She underwent her first rhinoplasty for a chiselled nose, and splurged on a £25,000 set of veneers . The average nose job in the UK costs between £3,000 and £7,000. The model said at the time: “I liked my nose before and now. If I had a cupboard with both noses, I would alternate between them!” 2008 - 2016: Boob Job Mania 17 Katie, pictured here in 2016, spent eight years going back-and-forth on her cup size Credit: Rex Features When she hit 30-years-old in 2008, Katie decided to drop her bra size from an F cup to a C cup, the size of her first boob job 10 years prior. Her tune soon changed, though. In 2011, she had her sixth boob job to once again boost her bust to an F cup. Her seventh and eighth augmentations took place in 2015, the former of which was a botched reduction that left her with a hole in her breast and the implant poking through her flesh. Despite the horrific experiences she had endured, Katie flew to a Brussels clinic in 2016 to go under the knife yet again for a 32GG bust. During this period, she also underwent body-contouring treatments, and amped up her usage of cheek and lip fillers to achieve a “plumper, more youthful look”. It’s possible that she was given all of these surgeries for free due to her celebrity status. 2017: First Face Lift 17 Katie, pictured here in 2017, had her first face lift at 39-years-old Credit: Keith Mayhew/Landmark Media This year marked a turning point for the Pricey. Despite previously claiming she would never have a face lift, Katie went back on her word to get a 'silhouette' version of the treatment. Not as extreme as the traditional face lift, it uses dissolvable sutures with tiny cones or barbs to reposition and hold the skin in place, creating a more youthful appearance without cutting the face open. The going price for this is around £2,300, according to Ever Clinic. Katie had further work done on her veneers and also had her breast implants reduced, marking her 10th boob job. 2018: Second Face Lift 17 It wasn't long before the pricey had her second face lift, pictured here in 2018 Credit: Getty Katie's first face lift was botched, she said, prompting her to undergo corrective surgery the following year at 40-years-old. She said at the time: "I need to get my face re-corrected after a surgeon totally f****d my face up." Her agent later revealed that the threads from her ‘silhouette face lift’ had "distorted her look”. The duo also hit back at trolls who said she’d “taken it too far, when in reality, it was a procedure that didn’t go as planned”. The revision face lift likely cost anywhere between £9,000 to £15,000. 2019: Turkey Time 17 Katie began jetting to Turkey for plastic surgery in 2019 Credit: BackGrid Katie capitalised on Turkey’s boom in medical tourism in 2019. She jetted to the hot country in search of a no-stone-left-unturned body transformation - and that’s exactly what she came back with. The mum-of-five underwent a full, surgical face, eye and eyelid lift, her first ever BBL (which transferred fat from other parts of her body to her buttocks) and a tummy tuck. Due to plastic surgery being typically cheaper in Turkey, it’s likely she paid around £10,000 for the full works. Just three months later, she went back to the clinic for her 12th boob job, this time reducing her bust back down to a D cup. 2020: 13th Times a Charm 17 In 2020, Katie had to get her "botched" 12th boob job corrected Credit: BackGrid It was time for Katie’s 13th boob job in Belgium to correct the apparently botched surgery from Turkey, after which she claimed the result was “absolutely awful”. She said at the time: “They looked deformed, they were absolutely awful. That's the first time I've gone to a different surgeon.” However, she still went back to Turkey to get a third set of veneers in 2020, and showcased how her natural teeth had been grinded down to stubs while there. This treatment was rumoured to be free due to Katie promoting the clinic on her social media channels. 2021: Another Overhaul 17 Katie had a full body and face transformation in 2021 Credit: instagram Katie decided to undergo another full transformation - likely costing around £10,000 - in the height of the pandemic. She jetted off to then red-list Turkey for a complete plastic surgery overhaul. This included full body liposuction, eye and lip lifts, liposuction under her chin and her second BBL with fat being injected into her bum. 2022: Secret Treatments 17 Katie is rumoured to have had a number of secret treatments in 2022 Credit: instagram Katie didn’t fess up to much plastic surgery in 2022. She did, however, share numerous Instagram clips of her lip filler, Botox and general beautician appointments, costing hundreds of pounds each time. The mum-of-five was rumoured to have had yet another eye and brow lift, and it was reported at the time that she had wished to go back to Turkey for more tweaks after being unhappy with her latest work. Rumours also swirled that she’d had more boob jobs this year. 2023: Biggest Ever Boobs 17 In 2023, Katie's boobs were the biggest they've ever been Credit: BackGrid Katie’s boobs had never been so big. She wanted to have the "biggest boobs in Britain" and reportedly opted for 2120cc implants to enhance her already sizable chest at a clinic in Belgium. The model claimed that this was her 16th boob job, following her 13th one in 2020. It’s unclear whether she lost count of her breast augmentation surgeries or simply chose to keep some quiet. 2024: ANOTHER Face Lift and NEWER Veneers 17 Katie, pictured here after her most recent face lift, promoted the clinic to her 2.7 million Instagram followers Credit: instagram In August this year, Katie jetted off to Turkey for more enhancements which were reportedly free. The categories are now: Normal, Partially Covered, Completely Covered, Travel Not Advised, and No Report. The information streamlines the categories and makes it easier for motorists. Drivers are encouraged to “know before you go” with 511 Wisconsin, online at 511wi.gov or via the mobile app. “We continually look for ways to enhance our 511 Wisconsin traveler information service,” WisDOT Secretary Kristina Boardman said. “As we prepare for another winter season, we’re excited to announce these new road condition categories. We know that road conditions during Wisconsin’s winters can change in the blink of an eye and drivers must expect the unexpected. We’re confident the updated winter road condition categories will help drivers make informed travel decisions this winter and beyond.” 511 Wisconsin first launched 15 years ago in 2009, and the free travel information system has evolved over the years with its web and smartphone capabilities. Drivers have direct access to up-to-date traffic information throughout the state. On 511 Wisconsin, users can access live streaming video through hundreds of traffic cameras across the state and winter road conditions for more than 14,000 miles of roadway. The WisDOT Traffic Management Center (TMC) oversees 511 Wisconsin to update the website and mobile app with current information based on notifications from law enforcement and other first responders. “The Wisconsin State Patrol and other law enforcement agencies coordinate with TMC staff and dispatchers working around the clock to keep all travelers in the know,” Wisconsin State Patrol Superintendent Tim Carnahan said. “Our winter weather in Wisconsin can make driving dangerous at times, so we encourage drivers to plan ahead, watch your speed during inclement weather and avoid distractions behind the wheel.” Users can still dial 511 to access travel information; however, for the most up-to-date technology, the traveling public is encouraged to use the 511 Wisconsin app or online at 511wi.gov . Motorists should always expect the unexpected when driving in the winter in Wisconsin. When possible, avoid traveling during storms to give winter maintenance crews room to work.
