Mayor Cherelle Parker’s administration has launched a new tool designed to demonstrate progress made on some key promises she made while on the campaign trail. Categories for Philly Stat 360 are broken down into safer , cleaner , greener , economic opportunity and core services , echoing Parker’s mantra of a “safer, cleaner, greener city with economic opportunity for all.” “We’re going to tell you about our progress, and some things we will be doing well, some things we need to do better at and some things we may not be doing well at all,” Parker said. “But we need to empower the tool of transparency .” Parker said fellow mayors were spending a lot of money hiring outside consultants to do the job, while the city of Philadelphia hired its own experts to save money and still have quality control over the site. Kristin Bray heads Philly Stat 360. She believes the website is easy for anyone to navigate . Parker herself admits she’s not much of a computer wiz, calling herself a “dinosaur” when it comes to technology. “Philly Stat 360 will make all city services more interactive, more transparent and more accessible to all Philadelphians, giving them a government that they can see, touch and feel,” Bray said. “This is a major step forward in connecting Philadelphians with their government in a meaningful and direct way.” Weekend violence in Philly leaves 4 people dead, 20 others injured Philadelphia police said they plan to increase law enforcement’s presence outside City Hall in the wake of a triple shooting in Dilworth Park. 1 day ago The site has already been recognized by the Biden administration for its effort to promote transparency in the delivery of government services. Parker said it is a way of “demystifying government” and eliminating what she called “hook-up culture,” where people need inside connections to access free city services on a priority basis. “You usually have to know somebody, who knows somebody, who knows somebody to get connected to these services that are free and readily open and available to the public,” she said. “So, this effort helps to demystify government and it tells the public what we want to do, why we do it, how we do it and how they can be a part of it.” Parker added the goal is to show people the good and the bad of city government and keep departments accountable. Dozens rally, call for Mayor Cherelle Parker to reaffirm Philly’s sanctuary city protections In the face of President-elect Donald Trump’s plans for mass deportations, advocates are rallying support for immigrant communities in Philadelphia. 7 days ago Get daily updates from WHYY News! Sinn Fein was accused of “ignoring” the role 3,000 Troubles deaths had in damaging community relations in Northern Ireland in a memo sent to a direct rule minister in 2003. Declassified files show the note to former MP John Spellar also said the republican party had ignored the “visceral component of sectarianism” in responding to a new government good relations strategy. Mr Spellar, then a Northern Ireland Office minister, had launched a consultation on the “A Shared Future” document, an attempt to address community divisions, segregation and sectarianism in the region at a time when the devolved powersharing institutions were suspended. A file at the Public Record Office in Belfast shows that OFMDFM official Chris Stewart wrote to the minister in July about a response to the document from Sinn Fein representative Bairbre de Brun. Mr Stewart told Mr Spellar that Ms de Brun’s letter had been critical of the document and was clearly intended to “mark your card”. He said among a number of points raised by de Brun was that “the promotion of equality is the key to improving community relations”. His memo adds: “Sinn Fein is clearly seeking to position or align the issue of community relations within its equality and human rights agenda. “This general Sinn Fein position has resulted in a simplistic analysis of community relations, which is flawed in its description of the causes and necessary policy response. “There is of course, no doubt that a lack of equality has been a contributing factor to poor community relations. “However, Sinn Fein ignores the many other factors, not least the violent conflict that resulted in over 3,000 deaths. “Sinn Fein also portrays poor community relations (for nationalists) as being a purely rational response to the political situation. “This ignores the more visceral component of sectarianism, which is all too prevalent in both communities.” Mr Stewart continues: “To suggest, as Sinn Fein does, that the promotion of equality should be the key component of good relations policy is to ignore the key message in A Shared Future, that indirect approaches alone are insufficient to deal with sectarianism and the abnormal relationship between sections of the Northern Ireland community.” The official recommended the minister invite representatives of Sinn Fein to a meeting to discuss the policy. The file also contains a note about Mr Spellar’s meeting with DUP representatives Maurice Morrow and Peter Weir the following month to discuss the document. The note says: “Morrow said he had no problem with sharing the future and suggested that the first step to that would be an election to decide who spoke for whom – though he was quick to say he didn’t want politics to dominate the meeting.” It adds: “Weir said that the biggest step towards improving community relations would be the creation of a political environment that had the broad support of both unionism and nationalism, and the GFA (Good Friday Agreement) could not create that environment.”The plastic surgery hospital where Liu Dameili underwent the procedure has a history of violations and had been penalized by the Health Commission for failing to comply with regulations.
