Throughout 2024, CNBC's Jim Cramer discussed the seemingly boundless rise of artificial intelligence with dozens of CEOs across the tech world. Here is how five top enterprise leaders characterized AI's meteoric rise this year. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the "AI computing ramp" is only beginning and will last years. Huang in March painted a picture of the AI landscape, saying investments in the new technology remain in the early innings. He predicted years of growth ahead and suggested that AI can drive innovation in a variety of fields, including science and healthcare. Nvidia is a titan of the AI revolution, as it designs and sells advanced technology essential for the technology. The company is the top supplier of GPUs, which are used to develop and implement new AI software like OpenAI's ChatGPT. Big Tech broadly is clamoring for Nvidia's products, with customers including Meta , Tesla , Microsoft and Amazon shelling out billions. Nvidia stock is currently up more than 176% year-to-date, and at times this year it surpassed Apple to become the most valuable company on the market. CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz said cybercriminals are leveling up: "It’s going to be the battle of AI in the future." Kurtz in February described how his cybersecurity company is fighting cybercrime that is "more active than ever," as hacker ranks grow and become more advanced with new AI technology in their arsenals. He said generative AI is democratizing "very esoteric techniques and attacks," so less-skilled cybercriminals can still carry out advanced attacks. "What we talked about in the earnings call is the ability to create more adversaries with lower skill levels, but operating at a much higher skill level, leveraging generative AI," Kurtz said, "Of course, on the security side, we leverage generative AI to help protect our customers, so it's going to be the battle of AI in the future." Snowflake CEO Sridhar Ramaswamy said generative AI will keep him "busy for many years to come." Ramaswamy took the reigns at Snowflake in February, and he described the way the data analytics software maker plans to use new AI technology. "We have so much ambition to do more, whether it is applications running on top of Snowflake, or, of course, using the power of generative AI, which I've been focused on for the past year, to democratize access to enterprise data, to have even more people be able to get at the data quickly to get value from it," Ramaswamy said. "So I think there's a huge opportunity in the world of data applications and AI that'll keep me busy for many years to come." Snowflake has collaborated with Nvidia, and in May, Ramaswamy teased a new project with the AI darling. According to him, Snowflake's product pipeline, "especially in AI, has been in overdrive." AMD CEO Lisa Su described competition with Nvidia: "There’s no one size fits all in computing." Although Nvidia leads the pack in the red-hot semiconductor design industry, competition is stiff, with companies like AMD and Intel vying for customers who are willing to pay top dollar. But in September, when asked about competition with Nvidia, Su suggested there is room for more than one major player in the sector. According to her, the "technology ecosystem" works properly when there's competition and partnership, and customers want the ability to choose between several solid options. "The way to think about it is, there's no one size fits all in computing," Su said. "There's no, you know, only one architecture. Actually, you're going to need the right compute for each application." Su said she believes "AI will impact everyone's lives," and that the world is just beginning to realize what the new technology can do. She also said people shouldn't be impatient about AI's impact because "tech trends are meant to play out over years, not over months." Generac CEO Aaron Jagdfeld CEO said pressure on the power grid "is only going to get worse" from weather and technology. Jagdgeld warned that pressure on the power grid is only going to increase as demand for data centers and other technology related to artificial intelligence continues to grow. 40% of the generator company's business comes from commercial and industrial-type products, he said, like backup for manufacturing plants, distribution centers, hospitals and data centers. BBC Radio 2 star Zoe Ball reveals painful health condition after quitting showNASSAU, Bahamas — Justin Thomas was long off the tee and made a few long putts on the back nine to overtake Scottie Scheffler with a 6-under 66 and build a one-shot lead Saturday over golf's best player going into the final round of the Hero World Challenge. Thomas is trying out a 46-inch driver — a little more than an inch longer than normal — that he previously used for practice at home to gain speed and length. He blasted a 361-yard drive to 8 feet on the par-4 seventh hole and led the field in driving distance. But it was a few long putts that put him ahead of Scheffler, who had a 69. Thomas was on the verge of falling two shots behind when he made an 18-foot par putt on the par-3 12th hole. On the reachable par-4 14th, he was in a nasty spot in a sandy area and could only splash it out to nearly 50 feet. He made that one for a most unlikely birdie, while behind him Scheffler muffed a chip on the 13th hole and made his lone bogey of a windy day. People are also reading... Scheffler never caught up to him, missing birdie chances on the reachable 14th and the par-5 15th. Thomas hit his approach to 3 feet for birdie on the 16th after a 343-yard drive. Scheffler made an 18-foot birdie putt on the 16th to close within one. Scheffler missed birdie chances on the last two holes from the 10-foot and 15-foot range, while Thomas missed an 8-foot birdie attempt at the last. "I had a stretch at 13, 14, 15 where I felt like I lost a shot or two there, but outside of that I did a lot of really good things today," Scheffler said. Thomas hasn't won since the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills, and a victory at Albany Golf Club wouldn't count as an official win. But the two-time major champion has made steady progress toward getting his game back in order. "I'm driving it great. I've had a lot of confidence with it," Thomas said of his longer driver. "I feel like I've been able to put myself in some pretty good spots going into the green. I'm still not taking advantage of some of them as much as I would like, but that's golf and we're always going to say that." Thomas was at 17-under 199 and will be in the final group Sunday with Scheffler, who is trying to end his spectacular season with a ninth title. Tom Kim put himself in the mix, which he might not have imagined Thursday when he was 3 over through six holes of the holiday tournament. Kim got back in the game with a 65 on Friday, and then followed with 12 birdies for a 62. Whether he's in the huddle beyond this season is still to be decided — by the Jets and Rodgers. “Football life is interesting because there’s no guarantees,” Rodgers said Wednesday. "Even with injuries, obviously, with contract situations, with age, with coaching changes, new scheme possibly, new system. There’s a lot of unknowns, so that stuff is out of my control. “I’m just going to enjoy these times here and let the future take care of itself.” Interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said Rodgers returned from the team's bye-week break appearing physically refreshed and ready to go. The quarterback was not on the Jets' injury report Wednesday for the first time since Week 4. “Definitely, as long as he’s healthy, my plan is to play him,” Ulbrich said. “And I know talking to him, that’s the way he wants to do it, too.” Rodgers, who turns 41 on Monday, has dealt with various injuries to his left leg, including a sore knee, sprained ankle and balky hamstring. Preliminary results are expected early Sunday, with full presidential results scheduled by Tuesday. "Everyone is complaining prices are high. So I want a change, I want a good president who will bring in changes," Abdullah Mohammed, a student said after voting in Accra's Nima district. With a history of political stability, Ghana's two main parties, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC), have alternated in power equally since the return to multi-party democracy in 1992. The scrapping of the motion is expected to intensify public protests calling for Yoon’s ouster and deepen political chaos in South Korea, with a survey suggesting a majority of South Koreans support the president’s impeachment. Yoon’s martial law declaration drew criticism from his own ruling conservative People Power Party, but it is also determined to oppose Yoon’s impeachment apparently because it fears losing the presidency to liberals. After the motion fell through, members of the main liberal opposition Democratic Party rallied inside the National Assembly, chanting slogans calling for Yoon's impeachment or resignation. The party's floor leader, Park Chan-dae, said it will soon prepare for a new impeachment motion. “We'll surely impeach Yoon Suk Yeol, who is the greatest risk to Republic of Korea,” party leader Lee Jae-myung said. “We'll surely bring back this country to normal before Christmas Day or year's end.” Despite escaping the impeachment attempt, many experts worry Yoon won’t be able to serve out his remaining 2 1/2 years in office. The Democratic Party and five other small opposition parties, which filed the motion, have 192 seats combined. But only three lawmakers from PPP participated in the vote. The motion was scrapped without ballot counting because the number of votes didn’t reach 200. National Assembly Speaker Woo Won Shik called the result “very regrettable” and an embarrassing moment for the country’s democracy that has been closely watched by the world. “The failure to hold a qualified vote on this matter means we were not even able to exercise the democratic procedure of deciding on a critical national issue,” he said. Opposition parties could submit a new impeachment motion after a new parliamentary session opens next Wednesday. While it is easy for fans to blame shows for being poor in quality, it is essential to acknowledge that the actual reason behind the shortcomings of highly anticipated shows is the unrealistic timetables imposed on animators by higher-ups . These conditions force animators to complete a show under immense pressure , leading to disappointing results for fans and crunch for workers . Hopefully, next year will see more animators receiving the respect they deserve and fewer ceiling-less monopolies of the space . It would also be remiss not to mention the massive anime leaks this fall as another glaring lowlight of the year. Thankfully, the online community banded together to help cease the spread of hotly anticipated shows, trying to prevent ruining the fun for their fellow fans and animators who poured all their talent into their official release. A big year for fantasy In a refreshing change of pace, this year saw animation return to form, putting out stellar fantasy anime that wasn’t the derivative isekai and reborn series that have oversaturated the space for the past decade. Leading the charge in the renaissance of fantasy anime were studio Madhouse’s Frieren and Trigger’s Delicious in Dungeon . Returning fantasy series like Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation , Re:Zero , and Konosuba concluded the year by reminding fans of the high quality that the best of the genre still has to offer. Remakes galore Hollywood isn’t the only industry that discovered the novelty in making something that was once old new again to a new generation of fans. Globally, animation has been riding that wave for quite some time. However, no group of remakes has come quite close to the level of acclaim that mangaka Rumiko Takahashi’s Urusei Yatsura and Ranma 1/2 have. Aside from continuing the long-held belief that female mangaka has the sauce, these particular remakes have demonstrated the versatility of animation studios like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure ‘s David Production and Jujutsu Kaisen ‘s Mappa whenever they’re not tasked with adapting shonen that takes itself too seriously. They’re funny and cute, and I want more remakes of Takahashi’s works now. The end is nigh The elephant in the room of 2024 was the reality that many of anime’s marquee shonen series, such as My Hero Academia , Demon Slayer , and Jujutsu Kaisen , are winding down to their final curtain call. While JJK will have more time on the clock before it reaches the final page of its manga that concluded in September , My Hero Academia and Demon Slayer ‘s ends are closer in view. In typical Utotable fashion, Demon Slayer ‘s finale will be a film trilogy, while My Hero Academia ‘s final season is set to premiere sometime next year. These shows coming to an end is notable not only for its undeniable influence on the anime community as the new wave of shonen—their end also comes with the excitement of what new shows will define the next generation of anime. Testing the waters As mentioned above, this year saw a new wave of animated projects that boldly enriched the medium with unique tales that innovated beyond cliches and trends from past generations.
