METIS advises ADTRAN, Inc. on the acquisition of the fixed-line Broadband Accessbusiness (BBA) from Nokia Siemens Networks

Frankfurt based law firm METIS Rechtsanwälte LLP has advised NASDAQ-listed ADTRAN, Inc., a leading global provider of next-generation network solutions, on its acquisition of the international fixed-line Broadband Access Business (BBA) from telecommunications provider Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN). The scope of the transaction will include the Broadband Access intellectual properties, technologies and the established customer base as well as up to approximately 400 employees globally.

The transaction will enable ADTRAN to take a significant step forward as one of the world’s leading communications solutions providers and is expected to close by the end of April 2012. It is subject to the completion of a consultation process with the NSN employee representations, on which METIS will advise ADTRAN as well, and customary closing conditions.

For this transaction, METIS teamed up with Düsseldorf based IP/IT-boutique ­ Arnold Ruess who advised on all IP/IT related matters.

The METIS team consisted of partners Lars Friske, Bernhard Maluch, Andreas ­Rasner (all corporate) and Daniel Benkert (employment) as well as associate Eva Scheidecker.
